Lockdown: Hungry Nigerians attack bus, steal loaves of bread (video)

A video posted on Twitter, Tuesday, showed a mob in Nigeria attacking a commercial bus and stealing loaves of bread.

One Emma Umeh (@emmaikumeh) who posted the video on the social media site said the incident happened in Agege, Lagos.

“The situation is getting serious,” Umeh commented on the video he posted. He was referring to the Lagos lockdown because of the new coronavirus. President Muhammadu Buhari has just extended the lockdown by 14 days.

Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub, has remained the epicentre of the coronavirus, with the state having 189 infections out of the 343 confirmed cases in the country as of April 13.

Lagos state and the neigbouring state of Ogun is facing an increase in armed robbery attacks, with helpless residents resorting to self-help.

Nigerians, unable to cope with hunger, are beginning to call on the government to lift the lockdown and allow people to resume work and business.
