The Bill was brought before the House by the Member representing Oruk Anam State Constituency and House Leader, Rt. Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan.
Presenting
the Committee's Report at Plenary on Tuesday, the Chairman, House Committee on
Education Hon. Godwin Ekpo noted that
the Bill seeks to provide for free tuition and examination fee in all public
primary and secondary schools in Akwa Ibom state.
The Lawmaker
said the bill seeks to address illiteracy and to promote the standard education in the state.
He said the
Bill is predicated on the need to actualise the dream of the present
administration to better the future of Akwa Ibom child.
The House
after receiving and considering the Report at the Committee of the Whole,
passed the Bill into Law.
At Plenary
also, the House received several other reports from different house Committees
to include a report from House Committee on Works regarding Equipping of Fire
Stations in the State.
Meanwhile,
the House has adjourned its plenary to Thursday, Thursday 16, 2020.
