Frank Okon dragged to court by his former lawyer, Andem Ndem

Mr. Frank Okon

It is confirmed that Barr. Andem Ndem has filed a lawsuit at Abuja high court against his former client, Mr. Frank Okon, a former PDP aspirant in Akwa Ibom State who is still in court challenging the 2011 election of Godswill Akpabio as the governor of the state.

Mr. Frank Okon confirmed this in a terse statement posted personally by him in Ibom Forum, an Internet discussion group hoisted under the Yahoo! platform.

“Just a line to intimate all, that my dear friend, brother, compatriot and erstwhile but terminated legal representative in my governorship legal case against INEC and 2 others, Barrister Andem Ndem, have instituted a case against me at the Abuja High Court 2,” Frank Okon says in the statement posted last Thursday, 18 April, 2013 at about 10: 55p.m Nigerian time.

Although Frank Okon did not expressly say what the dispute was with his former lawyer Andem Ndem, it could be deduced from his public statement that it may be about settlement of legal fees from court case(s) Okon instituted against Godswill Akpabio’s re-election.

Okon admits in the statement, “I am owing Barrister Andem Ndem & Co N2.2m (Two Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira only) for their services as per my written agreement with them before the outset of the case, an amount which is ready for them to pick up anytime they are ready”, and went further to say that he has written to the Nigeria Bar Association to investigate his former lawyer for ‘professional misconduct’.
