The new leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis
is building an image of a spiritual leader that is truly at home with the poor,
the sick and the needy. The other day, the pope ‘washed and kissed the feet of a
dozen inmates, including two young women, at a juvenile detention
center in a surprising departure from church rules that restrict the Holy
Thursday ritual to men’.
Recently, during Easter Sunday in St. Peter’s Square,
Pope Francis hugged and kissed 8-year-old boy who is reportedly suffering from cerebral
palsy. The parents of the boy were moved to tears by the pontiff’s action.
What can we say, other than to pray that God bless
His servant, Pope Francis and the Church!
