A’Ibom: All PDP aspirants, except Udom Emmanuel, walk out of governorship primary

Former deputy governor, Obong Nsima Ekere and other aggrieved PDP governorship aspirants in Akwa Ibom State addressing their supporters

All the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirants in Akwa Ibom State, with the exception of Mr. Udom Emmanuel, walked out in protest of the party’s primary today.
Surprisingly, Governor Godswill Akpabio’s son-in-law, Mr. Michael Sebastian Etuk is among the 21 aspirants who boycotted the party’s primaries which most people in state suspected was programmed from the beginning to favour the governor’s protégé, Udom Emmanuel.

Former deputy governor of the state, Obong Nsima Ekere, the current senator representing Eket Senatorial District, Mrs. Helen Esuene, and the Majority Leader in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mr. Okpolupm Etteh, including another former deputy governor, Patrick Ekpotu, were among those who walked out from the venue of the primary, Akwa Ibom International Stadium, alleging that the delegates list have been adulterated.
Others are: Mr. Benjamin Okoko, Mr. Ita Udo, Engr. Ime Ekanem, Mr. David Okpon, Mr. Effiong Usin, Dr. Peter Esuh, Mr. Jerome Isangidihi, Dr. Samuel Udonsak, Mr. Larry Esin, Mr. Anietie Johnny Ufot, Mr. Asuquo Okpo, Prof. Richard King, Barr. Effiong Abia, Barr. Ekpenyong Ntekim, Mr. Chris Abais-Eyo and Barr. Assam Assam.

In a protest letter addressed to Prince Bola Oyebolawe, the chairman of PDP electoral panel for Akwa Ibom State, the aggrieved aspirants said there was a clear violation of the party guideline and the electoral act, and also accused Governor Akpabio of bribing delegates with N1million each to support Mr. Udom Emmanuel.
