Oruk Anam neglected by Akpabio’s govt – Soni Udom

Gov. Godswill Akpabio

The All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom State has accused the administration of Governor Godswill Akpabio of not doing enough throughout the past seven years to build social amenities and develop human capacity in Oruk Anam Local Government Area of the State.

The Director General, Umana-Ukpong Campaign Organisation, Chief Soni Udom who made the accusation, Monday, while addressing a large crowd of APC supporters during the party’s campaign rally at Ikot Ibritam, the headquarters of Oruk Anam, said Governor Akpabio and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, have rubbished the fact that “great sons of Oruk Anam like Chief Don Etiebet and Chief Itak Ekarika were among those who brought PDP to Akwa Ibom State.”

Soni Udom himself is from Oruk Anam, and has represented the area in the Federal House of Representatives, Abuja.
“The people of this local government area have supported PDP in the past, but there is nothing to show for it; there are no good roads linking Oruk Anam with other parts of the State. They have not built schools here, even the one that the administration of Obong Victor Attah built as one of the model secondary schools in the state have been abandoned by Akpabio. If you visit the place, you will see that it has been taken over by lizards and snakes,” said Udom.

Chief Soni Udom told the crowd that Oruk Anam people have made up their minds not to support PDP in the forthcoming general elections. “That is why we have brought APC to you, so that we can uuchange the wrongs PDP has done in Oruk Anam,” he said.
During the rally, hundreds of PDP members from four wards in Oruk Anam denounced their membership of the ruling party, and immediately joined the opposition APC.

Soni Udom asked the people of Oruk Anam to vote APC presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari as their next president, Umana Okon Umana as their governor, Inibehe Okorie as senator for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, and other APC candidates for Federal House of Representatives and Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly elections.
“Godswill Akpabio has thrown down other politicians, but he can’t throw down Umana Okon Umana. Umana is the last man standing in Akwa Ibom politics,” Udom said.

He described Buhari as an incorruptible leader that will get back Nigeria’s stolen funds and use them to bring needed development to the country.

  1. When a man has been accused of doing something wrong, we should never forget all the things he has done right. Akpabio is not a God! He can't do everything 100%.so far, all he has done for AkwaIbom state surpasses all he hasn't done which I believe is fair. Humans are insatiable.....give the man a break! (I doubt if all these accusations were true gan)

  5. Liars!! nobody denounced nothing. you are obviously lying. if Soni Udom says the people have nothing to show for their support to PDP, then he clearly does not know what he is talking about as. incorruptible leader my foot. if he is incorruptible why has APC started off its campaigning by paying people five thousand naira per day to attend their rallies?. does that not show signs of desperation? i would never vote in such a Government abeg.

  10. My question is, does Oruk Anam have a local govt chairman or not? What is the duty of the representative of that constituency? Not everything Akpabio Akpabio! If these people in charge don't bring such things to the notice of the governor, how do you expect him to act on it? Also, bear in mind that Gov. Akpabio won't go about awarding road contracts and supervising every nook and cranny of the state, the people who get the allocations might also be seating on them. Lets chill on the name calling and smear campaign please.

  11. If any governor should be criticized for poor performance, Akpabio will not be among. If all the governors in Nigeria can perform a quater of Akpabio's. Nigeria will be very great in a short time
