A popular lawyer in Uyo, Barr. Aquaisua Edet Aquaisua is dead. He was 50. He was the managing partner of the law chambers, Aquaisua Edet Aquaisua & Co. in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. He was married, with three children.

Aquaisua is reported to have died in the early hours of 25 December, 2014 at his home in Uyo. The cause of death hasn’t been made known to the public yet, but some friends of the late barrister said he may have suffered asthmatic attack late in the night before Christmas Day.
Think Akwa Ibom! gathered that Aquaisua organised a modest party around November in Uyo which he invited friends to celebrate his 50th birthday with him.

Uyo residents who commented on the sad incident expressed shock over the death of Aquaisua whom they say was friendly and easy going.
“Easy going, all smiles, simple, jovial, devoted, hospitable, considerate, thoughtful, God-fearing, gamely, loyal, honest, a lovely father, generous, respectful, dutiful. I can go on and on.  Everybody has got one flaw or the other. He was not perfect, but I idolize him in many ways. He was a good man. I will always miss Barr. Aquaisua Edet Aquaisua,” says Kocco Essien, a lawyer from Abak, Akwa Ibom State.

“Too shocked and sad for words. God knows best. May your soul rest in perfect peace,” said Enefiok Essien.
“A very nice guy! We were together in Benue House at the Federal Government College, Ikot Ekpene. May his soul rest in peace,” said Nsima Ntekpere.

Mr. Imo Ebong who lives in Manchester, United Kingdom said that he initially thought news of Aquaisua’s death was a prank.
Ebong recounted his first encounter with late Aquaisua in 1993 in Uyo. “I still remember when I met him for the first time at his law chambers in the company of a friend (Pina), in Uyo. The purpose of that visit was to play some rounds of Scrabble.

“But instead, Late Barr. Aquaisua offered to take us out for some entertainment at a drinking joint. Palmwine and assorted meat was also sold at the joint and there was so much palmwine to drink as other friends of his joined us at the table to make the session more interesting. A fine/penalty was introduced for the first person who got up to go for a wee from our table to be responsible for supplying the next round of booze. I got very drunk from holding back from going for a piss because I was broke and couldn't afford to supply the table of friends with booze.
“Luckily, we had to make our excuses at some stage to leave the drinking joint. At that point, my bladder could barely hold on to the urine and I dashed quickly to the nearest spot for a very long, relieving wee.

“My second and last meeting with late Barr. Aquaisua was in the following year, 1994, when he gave me a lesson in Scrabble by thrashing me three games to one. I was very happy to manage to win a round against Aquaisua who was at one time a former Nigerian National Scrabble Champion.”
Think Akwa Ibom! prays that the Lord God grant the soul of late Barr. Aquaisua Edet Aquaisua eternal rest, and also bless his family with the strength to bear the painful loss.
