Mr Idongesit Ituen, lawmaker-elect (Itu State Constituency) in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has been inducted into the Cpfr Hall of Shame.
Cpfr is the acronym for Committee for Political Freedom & Responsibility. It is an advocacy group for democracy and good governance in Nigeria.

“Idongesit Ituen’s induction into the Hall of Shame follows a dishonourable and shameful public conduct, in which he went on Facebook some weeks ago to ask the publisher of a local newspaper, Weekly Insight, Mr. David Augustine, to quit Akwa Ibom State for criticizing Governor Godswill Akpabio,” Cpfr said in a statement released on Thursday.
According to Cpfr, Ituen is the first person to be inducted into its Hall of Shame.
The group said, “Idongesit Ituen’s grouse against David Augustine wasn’t just that he criticized Governor Godswill Akpabio, but that the newspaper publisher, being an Igbo man from Enugu State, had no right to ask questions about the affairs of Akwa Ibom State.”
The statement which is signed by the Cpfr’s National Coordinator, Mr. Anthony Bassey said the lawmaker-elect was yet to apologize to newspaper publisher, despite public condemnation against his comment.
The statement continued, “For openly promoting ethnicity and making such a silly comment against a Nigerian journalist who merely exercised his freedom of expression as guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution, Idongesit Ituen is not fit to occupy the exalted office of a lawmaker, he deserves to wear a garment of shame until he shows remorse and turn away from the foolish path he has taken.”
