The winner of the Face of Rhodies World, season 6, Miss
Aniebiet Umanah has said that she was inspired to enter into the contest because
of what past winners said about it.
Face of Rhodies World is a periodic photo contest, organised
by a renowned online magazine, RhodiesWorld, where prospective contestants are encouraged to take cute
photographs of themselves, and send them online for assessment and grading by
beauty experts.
The prestigious contest gives high profile status to its
winners – they are called Rhodies World Ambassadors – who during their reigns
are exposed to the glamour world of beauty and fashion.
The theme for this year’s contest was ‘My Culture, My Pride’.
The contestants were asked to showcase a particular culture of their choice.
Umanah, from Akwa Ibom State, in an exclusive chat with Think Akwa Ibom! said when she sent in
her entry which represented Ibibio culture for the contest she discovered that
the assessment was transparently done, just as she was told by those who had participated
and won in the past.
She said she was excited when she got to know she won the
contest which comes with a star prize of N110, 000.00 and an all expense paid
weekend treat at Ibom Le’meridian & Golf Resort, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
“I felt like a queen which I am. But you know what? That was
when I actually believed what the past Ambassadors (of Rhodies World) said, because
most (beauty) contest are not free and fair,” says Umanah who claimed she had
in the past contested in three different beauty pageants without winning any.
“As a model, I saw Face of Rhodies World Photo Contest as a
platform to shine,” she said.
