Is Udom’s CPS, Ekerete Udoh proud of New York and ashamed of A'Ibom?

Ekerete Udoh

By Nse Peter

The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Udom Emmanuel, Mr. Ekerete Udoh is proud of his American citizenship, and he is constantly flaunting it. Those in Akwa Ibom who have had the ‘privilege’ of meeting the CPS, say he takes delight in talking about his past exploits while living then in New York, United States.

In April this year, when Udoh published an article in the Vanguard newspaper to celebrate Gov Emmanuel’s victory at the polls, he took time to boast about his U.S citizenship and his involvement in the American politics, thus:

“Since 2006, I have been actively involved with American politics and can safely without sounding immodest state that I understand deeply the dynamics, issues and currents that illuminate the political/electoral process in the United States. In November of that year, 2006, I had exercised my first civic responsibility as a newly minted American citizen when I voted in the governorship/Congressional elections that took place that year.”

I hope you didn’t miss the phrase ‘newly minted American citizen’ in line 4 of the above quotation? It’s funny, right?

Well, we don’t consider it funny, that a public officer who ought to be a pr man for the government and people of Akwa Ibom State is downplaying his own local government area, state and nation of origin, just because he is able to acquire the citizenship of another nation! We learned that the new CPS is from Onna Local government area where the governor is also from. But why is he keeping people in the dark about his Nigerian origin? Is Udoh feeling ashamed of Onna or Akwa Ibom ?

The CPS’s says in his Facebook page that he is from New York, United States. Please can someone out there tell him to quickly edit his Facebook page to show that he is from Akwa Ibom State or he could do better than this by going back to the U.S to work as President Barack Obama’s chief press secretary!
