Opinion: Akwa Ibom people and their fake phonetics by Moses Eskor

Mr. Moses Eskor, a renowned Nollywood producer from Akwa Ibom State posted this interesting article on Facebook and we felt we should share it to our readers. The article is published unedited. Please read it after the cut, and also do well to share it to others. Who knows, someone out there could repent of his old ways after reading this…..

I am angry, very angry!
I stumbled on a phone number of my long lost friend of many years, I left him in Lagos in 1998 and came home because of School, (I thank GOD I came home), I was excited to get his number from his brother in Uyo, I sat in my room this afternoon to give him a call, I began speaking to him in Ibibio language, our native language that he understands, after introducing myself, he sounded as if he did not understand me, he ask me to use English language, when I went further he angrily dropped the call, I was surprised, I then call his brother who gave me the number to report, the young man sadly told me that David Udo Ntekpere hates to be spoken to in Ibibio language, that I should've used Yoruba or English, I'm angry, this is not the first time an Akwa Ibom son is doing this to me,
It is Sad to note that Akwa Ibom people make 60% of fake Nigerians who speak through their noses, most of them live in Lagos, to them Uyo is "idung" (village), they hate it if you talk to them in Akwa Ibom language in public, they'll reply you in phonetics, most of these people spend their lives in rented houses in Lagos while their younger once boast of fleets of buildings in Uyo, if you ask them they'll tell you they hate coming home because of their relations who they believe are all witches and wizards, After their big-time lifestyle in big towns, after all their hussles and enjoyments they normally return home frustrated to face us, the "Progressive and rich Witches", the "successful, educated local" in Akwa Ibom, please if you are one of these people, come home, home is the best, there is no greener please than your home, Nigeria is decentralizing, Lagos, Kano, Port Harcourt, and Abuja are no more the only lands of opportunity in Nigeria, there are many successful people who are making it from their States, please plan to come home this year, stop living a fake lifestyle, be proud of your root. A tree that forgets it's root is a dead tree
