Christian youth leader, others react to closure of Christ Embassy in Akwa Ibom

Following the press release issued by the Akwa Ibom State Government on the closure of Christ Embassy Church in Uyo over violations of Covid-19 Guidelines and Protocols on the prevention community of  spreading of the dreaded pandemic in the State and the attack and brutalization of members of the Christian Association of Nigeria ( CAN) Monitoring Team who visited the Church to enforce compliance.


Reports monitored from the social media posts of some social commentators indicates the mixed feelings expressed by Nigerians over incidence. Whiles some commentators expressed their displeasure over the incidence, others lauded the government for its decisions.

President Christian Association of Nigeria Youth Wing, Pastor Nyeneime Andy in a reaction on his Facebook wall described the incident as a shame.


The National Legal Adviser of African Action Congress, Barr. Inibehe Effiong said that it was blatant illegality for the Akwa Ibom State Government to shut or close a place of worship arbitrarily.

A former Chief Press Secretary to Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Mr, Kufre Okon, in his post, described the press statement as rascally and misleading.


Cavil Inwang a blogger based in the USA described Christ Embassy as a Business that is registered and regulated under the Corporate Affairs Commission.

Da Zion Umoh an atheist and indigene of the state residing in Dallas, Texas, in his reaction questioned the overseer and members of the church.

Ubon Marcus an Fmr. NANS Vice President and On-Air-Personality /Compere, in his reaction, ask members coming online to post pictures of the service to stick issues and stop flaunting pictures.

Meanwhile, available information from The Sun indicates that Christ Embassy has sued Akwa Ibom State government over the arrest of their pastor, Emmanuel Effiong, as a result of the altercation between the church and the government-instituted monitoring committee.
