Breaking News: Robison Uwak Challenges Akpabio to Public Debate

Robinson Uwak and Gov. Godswill Akpabio

There appear to be no respite for embattled Governor Godswill Akpabio as the member representing Oron Federal Constituency, Akwa Ibom State, in the Federal House of Representatives, Abuja, Mr. Robinson Uwak has challenged the governor to a public debate on the development issues affecting the five local government areas – Oron, Mbo, Urue offong/Uruko, Okobo and Udung Uko – in the Oron Federal Constituency.

In an open letter to Governor Godswill Akpabio, dated Monday, 11 August, 2014, Mr. Robinson Uwak says, among other reasons, that he was challenging Akpabio to a public debate as a response to the governor’s earlier request that he, Uwak, should publish his achievements so far.

The letter signed by Uwak’s legislative aides/chief of staff, Mr. Esu-Amba Amba and copied to the National Chairman of PDP, Ahlaji Adamu Mu’azu, gives Akpabio 14 days to respond.
The areas to be covered in the debate, Mr. Uwak stated in the letter, include infrastructure, education, health, human capacity development, industrialization, security, erosion control, and transportation. “Only verifiable project shall be cited, and assessment of the scorecard shall be based on the constitutional functions of both parties,” the letter added.

Uwak says the debate which would take place at Oron Federal Constituency headquarters at a time that is convenient for the governor shall be public and broadcast live with funding from his office.
Governor Akpabio and Mr. Robinson Uwak have been engaged in a media war over Uwak’s claims that his constituency has experienced ‘uncommon marginalization’ under the administration of Akpabio.
