Akpabio sponsored 1,700 fake delegates to APC governorship primary

Akpabio.... Couldn't stop Umana

By Nse Peter
What we all know about the APC’s governorship primary that took place yesterday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State is that Umana Okon Umana defeated former senator, John Akpan Udoedehe to emerge the governorship candidate of the party, but what many did not know is that Governor Godswill Akpabio who is of the ruling PDP played less than noble role in the just concluded primary.

Godswill Akpabio, in an attempt to stop his estranged political associate and former Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government (SSG), Mr. Umana Okon Umana, from picking the APC’s governorship ticket, is alleged to have bankrolled John Akpan Udoedehe’s political machinery with a whopping N500 million. The money, said to have been delivered very early in the morning at Udoedehe’s house on the day of the primary by a former commissioner in Akpabio’s cabinet, was meant to be used for the ‘settlement’ of party delegates.
A week to the primary, Akpabio had sponsored fake news item in some local tabloid that the national leadership of APC had asked Umana not to contest for the governorship ticket anymore, but should rather go for the senate ticket.

More so, Akpabio through one of his special assistants brought in some 1, 700 youths from Ikot Ekpene local government areas to fake their way into the Uyo Township Stadium as if they were delegates to the APC governorship primary.
Think Akwa Ibom! gathered that when the fake delegates couldn’t successfully pass through screening at the gate of the Uyo Township Stadium, and when every other antics of Akpabio failed, the governor persuaded Udoedehe to go violent and disrupt voting.

The disruption happened as thugs suddenly emerged out of the dark to cart away ballot boxes, while armed policemen and other security officials looked on helplessly as though nothing had happened.  But that did not stop the officials from going ahead with the election.
At the end of the election, Umana Okon Umana had 2,444 votes against John Akpan Udoedehe’s 6.

  5. I am laughing with a straight face. Like seriously, Akpabio isnt that desperate or ignorant to fake things for someoneelse. By the way, how can a whole 1700 people rush to d gate and they were refused to let in, there were thugs, finally he came out with 6 votes. The story just doesn't flow well I must say.

  7. something dosen't add up here. so you're telling me that if really, we had 1,700 thugs, at least 30 of them wouldn't get in?, that's logic by the way.

Now to the real matter at hand, Gov Akpabio does not associate with thuggery if his opponent was victorious, then yes it means there is indeed fairness in the elections, contrary to what most of you journalist keep publishing.

  8. Gov Akpabio isn't a desperate man like the way you are trying to paint him here. if anything, the victory of Ummana sounds suspicious 2,444 against 6? come on even if his opponent doesn't even have family members, you're telling me just six people voted for him?
