Disclose A’Ibom debt profile, CLO tells Udom Emmanuel

Mr. Udom Emmanuel

By Etim Ekpimah

Civil Liberties Organisation, Akwa Ibom State chapter, has called on Governor Udom Emmanuel to disclose the state’s debt profile to Nigerians.

The group also challenged the state governor to disclose the amount of money left in the state’s treasury by the Godswill Akpabio’s administration.
Also, the CLO also demanded that Emmanuel and his deputy, Mr. Moses Ekpo, should disclose their assets.
The state chairman of the organisation, Mr. Clifford Thomas, who spoke exclusively with our correspondent in Uyo on Wednesday, revealed that in order for Emmanuel’s 12-point agenda to be effective, his government must be transparent.
Thomas said, “We call on Emmanuel and the deputy governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Moses Ekpo, to declare their assets because this will send a warning to corrupt persons who will want to spoil his government with their corruption-laden agenda.
“He needs to tell Akwa Ibom people and Nigerians how much he met in the coffers of the government on the day of his inauguration. Some governors have already told their people how much they met in the government coffers and what their state debt profiles are.”
