Ekokoi Solomon rejects appointment into Nsit Ubium LG transition committee

Mr. Ekokoi Solomon

A former PDP House of Assembly aspirant in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Ekokoi Solomon has reportedly rejected his appointment by Governor Udom Emmanuel into the transition committee of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.

Solomon holds a Masters of Law and teaches law in the University of Uyo, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
During the 2015 PDP primaries, he challenged Mr. Onofiok Luke, member, representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, for the PDP ticket, but lost to the incumbent despite being backed by the then governor, Mr. Godswill Akpabio and wife, Unoma.
As compensation for his loss, Governor Emmanuel appointed Solomon as a supervisor in the newly constituted transition committee in Nsit Ubim Local Government Area, a position which many including Solomon himself viewed as being demeaning. “How do I go to my vice chancellor and say to her ‘madam, please give me leave of absence to and take up an appointment as supervisor in local government transition committee’?” one community newspapers in Akwa Ibom quoted Solomon as having said. “If I was in her shoes and a chap comes to me with such request, I will say he is not fit to be in the ivory tower in the first place.”
Besides, Solomon is reported to have said that the membership of the transition committee in Nsit Ubium did not reflect the political agreement reached by PDP leaders in the area, after the party House of Assembly primaries.
Solomon’s Facebook posts of late suggest that he is disappointed with the political system. In one of his posts he said, “Power cannot and must not be left in the hands of those without morals. For without moral compass power runs amok”. In another of his post, he wrote “He who shames another usually has a taste of the remnants of the same shame.”
