Enyeama targets more glory, after winning 10th career title

Days after helping Maccabi Tel Aviv to their first Israeli League title in 10 years, goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama wants more glory


Enyeama kept a clean sheet as Tel Aviv ran out 2-0 winners at Hapoel Ironi Ramat Hasharan to secure the title with four games to spare, and he told KickOffNigeria.com that winning is a part of him.

"I am a winner. Everywhere I go, I try to win something and this victory feels really good. I give all the glory to God."

The title is Enyeama's 10th in an 11-year senior career. He won 3 Nigeria league titles and two CAF Champions League titles in his time with Enyimba.

Following his move to Israel, he won the Israeli Cup twice with Hapoel Tel Aviv and the league title once before moving to France to join Lille.

Failing to get a starting spot, the goalkeeper returned to Israel to join Hapoel's rivals Maccabi.

Early this year, he played an integral part as the Super Eagles won the African Nations Cup, and having followed that up with the Ligat ha'Al trophy, Enyeama has now set his sights on the FIFA Confederation Cup.

"We have to take each game as it comes, but we are not going there to make up the numbers. Our target is to win the trophy and by the Grace of God, we will," said the deeply religious Enyeama.

But first, there is the little matter of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup.

"We have two very important games against Kenya and Namibia to play, and we have to concentrate on that because it is very important for us to qualify for the World Cup.

"After that, we can focus on the Confederation Cup."
