By Etim Ekpimah

Buhari Friends Organisation Network in Akwa Ibom State has begun fasting and prayer for a successful transition to the next administration on May 29.
Speaking in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, on Wednesday, the National Coordinator of the group, Saint Okon, stated that the fasting and prayers became necessary to seek the face of God as the country was about to move into another phase of the country’s administration.

According to him, the fasting will be observed simultaneously by both Christians and Moslems and will be rounded off on Saturday, a day the group and its affiliates will converge for the final prayer rally to be held at the Millennium Park, Maitama, Abuja.
He explained that the prayer summit would ensure that the incoming president was fortified and strengthened spiritually to be able to run the affairs of the country in line with the administrative best practices.
He added that the prayers would equip the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, with a discerning mind to be able to pick the best materials for different positions for effective administration of the country in the next four years.
Okon added, “We call on Nigerians to support the incoming President in the task of running the country. Some of the problems facing Nigeria are due to lack of qualified and committed personnel.
“Buhari does not intend to turn Nigeria into a one party state as some people have alleged. Our view is that Buhari must not succumb to pressure from those who described themselves as professional politicians, but must choose the right persons for the right positions, irrespective of party affiliations.”
