Group warns Akpabio against interference in Udom Emmanuel’s administration

By Etim Ekpimah

A group, Concerned Patriots of Akwa Ibom State, has cautioned a former governor of the state, Senator Godswill Akpabio, against interfering in the administration of the state.

According to the group, Akpabio’s recent actions were not only meant to undermine the powers and authority of the sitting governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, but also a direct affront on the collective sensibilities of the people that the governor represents.
A statement issued on Thursday by the group’s National President, Chief Peter Ekwere, and Secretary, Dr. Timothy Inyang, claimed that there was a growing public resentment over an alleged interference by Akpabio.
The group said Akpabio’s tenure had expired on May 29 and thus he should desist from interfering in governance in the state.
The statement read in part, “We consider it needful to advise Akpabio to see the need to quickly align himself with the reality that he is no longer the governor of the state.
“This, among other things, would demand that he should be properly seated at any function to be attended by the sitting governor – long before the governor arrives.
“And where, for any reason, he arrives the venue after the governor had already taken his seat, he is expected to quietly find a seat for himself without any breach of protocol.”
