The publisher of a community newspaper in Akwa Ibom has accused the state governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel of being behind the publication of fake copy of the paper.

A counterfeited front-page of The Guide newspaper was posted and circulated, Thursday, on Facebook  by people suspected to be working for the Akwa Ibom State government.

The fake edition of the paper with a false banner headline “Umana Goes Shopping for Witnesses” was apparently intended to ridicule the Akwa Ibom APC governorship candidate Mr. Umana Okon Umana who has so far rattled Emmanuel and its party – PDP – in the ongoing election petition tribunal in Abuja.

The Guide publisher, Mr. Emmanuel Sam asked the Akwa Ibom governor in an open letter to stop counterfeiting the paper or else they will go to court to seek redress.
“I call on you to as a matter of urgent public importance, and in your best interest to forthwith, bind your mad dogs with their respective chains,” the publisher said to the governor.
