“It’s absolutely wrong for a man to slap a woman even when the woman slaps him” – Rozay of Planet FM Uyo

Popular On Air Personality (OAP) with Planet FM Uyo, Rose Akai aka Rozay shares her thoughts on marriage, dating, lesbianism with Think Akwa Ibom!’s Editor-in-Chief, NSE PETER. Read the interview after the cut…..

Planet 101.1FM on its website describes you as being ‘very adventurous’. How adventurous have you been? Can you give us an instance, at least?

Yes I am, mainly because I easily get bored... Here’s one, my staying in Akwa Ibom was an adventure because I really didn’t have or know anyone here, right after NYSC. But I decided to leave Lagos to Uyo without a job offer or anything. So for me that was a big leap propelled by my adventurous side and many others I don't want to say.

There’s a striking blend or call it chemistry between you and your Planet Rush co-presenter, Nonso Dike aka Lokay. Is there something unique about the two of you that you’ll like to share with us?

Lokay and I are spontaneous, that’s the uniqueness.

The recent photo of you and Lokay expressing super excitement inside the studio seems to tell us that there’s romance in the air! What do you think?

Romance? Really? Hahahahaha….. There's none, just two peeps who have a common interest...make the listener entertained by any creative means.

The first time we published a beautiful photograph of you on our blog a guy who commented on Facebook said of the photograph “I love her rounded shape and her hips. It’s just so cool….” Does such description fits you or do you think the guy was being over generous in his comment?

He was absolutely right. I've been blessed with a lovely figure, I can brag about that.

If a caller call in during one of your live programmes on radio and propose to you and he seems dead serious about it, how would you handle him?

I’d blush out of embarrassment. ..But trust me to laugh so hard, he might feel bad.

Can you share with us your most awful experience on the mic as OAP?

Yes I have quite a few. Ehmmm… but I think it happened on one of those days before the world news, wasn't prepared was just reading badly. I felt awful.

What’s your take on transgender? And if you were to interview Caitlyn Jenner, what questions would you ask her?

I know it’s wrong. That’s telling God he didn't know what he was doing when he formed you. Why did you do it? How do you feel now as a ‘woman’? Do you feel strange? How's your sex life? And many more….

If you know they’ll gladly oblige you, who among these three persons would you be so excited to beg to follow you on twitter – President Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Diko Dangote and Bishop David Oyedepo?

My Papa of course! Bishop David Oyedepo.

It appears you smile and laugh a lot. Does it come naturally, or you just do it to make people listening to you on radio feel good?

It comes naturally, although sometimes I feel it's a little too much.

What do you look out for in a guy who just asked you ask you out for a date, for the first time?

Good looks and articulation.

Who is that woman that is your role model in Nigeria when it has to do with fashion?

Genevieve Nnaji, simply yet classy.

Incessant break-up in marriages is alien to Nigerian culture, you’ll agree with us. What do you think is responsible for instability in marriages these days?

Many reasons, from pressure by society, family etc to lack of a good foundation, to infidelity, to even the most ridiculous reasons...For each divorced couple there is a different reason. It's just a sad development.

Let’s talk about domestic violence. If a woman, for instance, slaps a guy, do think it is wrong for the guy to slap her back?

Absolutely wrong. On no account should a man lay hands on a woman. There are better ways to deal with such.

We saw this news headline in one of the national dailies in Nigeria, “Sixty-five-year-old landlord lured our daughter, raped her for rituals – Victim’s mother”. The victim in the story is just seven years old! What do you make out of this kind of story? And how can the government tackle rape, especially of minor, which seems to be on the increase?

Evil! That's what it is. Life imprisonment. We should banish such people out of the face of the earth. It's just so sad that the world is so wicked now and you can't even trust a little girl with even your relatives.

Some people see lesbianism or gay as being demonic, while others see it as being natural and okay. What’s your take on this?

It is not natural. It's wrong in every way, biblically and morally.

Culturally speaking, what do you think is Akwa Ibom’s unique selling point? What aspects of Akwa Ibom culture do you think could be exported to other parts of Nigeria and even outside the country?

Our artistic abilities. For example, our drama, dance, songs, folk tales. The world is big on entertainment now; if we can sell our arts we'd place our name in the sands of time. Oh, lest I forget ‘our food’ too.
