Ex-A’Ibom gov, Victor Attah’s presence at election tribunal excites APC supporters

By Nse Peter
Obong Victor Attah’s presence on Thursday at the Akwa Ibom Governorship Election Tribunal sitting in Abuja is an additional booster to the morale of the APC supporters who are already in high spirit about the proceedings of the tribunal.

The election tribunal resumes today, October 8, 2015, for counsels to the parties involved in the case to adopt their written addresses.
Attah is said to have walked into the tribunal premises with the Akwa Ibom APC governorship candidate, Mr. Umana Okon Umana and his wife, Florence, at about 9:56am. The former governor wore his signature ‘Niger Delta’ attire, white colour, plus an oxblood-colour cap to match.
Mr. Unyime Ekwere, APC House of Assembly candidate for Etinan State Constituency and Mr. Emmanuel Sam, the publisher of The Guide newspaper, Akwa Ibom State, had a photo opportunity with Attah.
Inside the court room, Attah sat in the same row with Umana, Mrs. Florence Umana, and the political leader of Etinan Local Government Area, Otuekong Sunny Jackson.
“The APC case is beyond politics; it is more of a liberation struggle for Akwa Ibom people, and that is why our revered leader, Obong Victor Attah is here to provide support. And of course, we all are happy for it as you can see,” a lady who gave her name as Christy told Think Akwa Ibom! at the court premises.
Obong Attah was one of the ranking politicians from Akwa Ibom State who testified before the tribunal that there was no governorship election in the state.

  1. Obong Attah supported Udoma Ekarika but Udoma lost. He also supported James Iniama against Akpabio but Akwa Ibom people voted for Akpabio. In 2011 he campaigned for John Udoedeghe and said he was next governor but Udoedeghe lost. In 2015 Attah supported UOU against Udom Emmanuel, UOU lost woefully! How come Akwa Ibom people always abandon Attah and his choice at every election? It is because Attah at every opportunity always failed to support the truth. Akwa Ibom people wanted a Governor from Eket senatorial district but he failed to act as a leader by supporting zoning to Eket. He wanted Umana from Uyo Senatorial District that had produced three previous governors before! ! Eket is the largest Senatorial District and also produces the entire wealth of Akwa Ibom state but they have never occupied that office since creation of our state. Godswill Akpabio was smarter. He felt the pulse of the masses of Akwa Ibom and supported Udom Emmanuel from Eket and Akwa Ibom people went with him all the way. That is why Attah once again is on the losing side. Udom Emmanuel will remain Governor because a convincing majority elected him. Akwa Ibom people needed Change and they had it. in the case of Frank Okon vs Godswill Akpabio the Supreme Court in its final judgement said "the court can not give you what the electorate didn't give you!" If your people did not elect you the courts can not give you that mandate!!!

  2. "Akwa Ibom people needed change." Change from what to what? Akpabio to Udom Emmanuel, right? You have the effrontery to insult Obong Attah, I'm sorry for you. "Etok ebot asop inua ikim ase ata ituud."

  4. Mr Jack , I just want to inform you that your blabber didn't impress anybody!! You said that ''a convincing majority elected" udom and the question is, can you explain the mind-boggling discrepancy between the number of people that were accredited and the number that purportedly voted? Your crass idiocy makes me to believe you must be one of those demented akpabio fanboys!!! Little wonder you are on chelsea's shirt. Your avatar also says it all!!!

  5. Anthony and Neo......you simply need to get your slimy heads checked! So far we have a working formula in Akwa-ibom and whether you two slimy heads or other slimy heads like you can disagree but UDOM IS RIGHT! I know you will easily tag me as an Akpabio fan boy but lemme assure you that am not necessarily one......am just a 'fan of progress'; so far Akpabio drove that badly needed progress and from the few indications so far, Udom will do well in industrializing Akwa-Ibom. If only he can get 2 projects of key interest up and running as planned : the solar panel/lED factory and the planned international flights (hopefully to most West-African countries); i can assure you that even-though your lips may not proclaim, your hearts will approve the Udom government. I plead with you to desist from being detractors; rather channel your energies to constructive criticisms and re-investment of funds back into our dear state......this is my 2cents.
