The Akwa Ibom State, commissioner of police, Mr Edgal has ordered the arrest and detention of a Police Officer in the state for allegedly assaulting and threatening a Pastor and his eldest brother on Tuesday, June 09,2020 at about 6:30pm along Aba-Ekparakwa Road, Uruk Ata 2, Etim Ekpo LGA.
Inspector Imoh an officer attached to Operation Porch, Edem Akai, Etim Ekpo LGA was alleged to have slapped and assaulted the pastor three times because the pastor had refused to offer him a bribe, even after he had checked the man's vehicle and found nothing incriminating.
The State Commissioner of police had instructed the Divisional Police Officer of Ukanafun to immediately arrest Inspector Imoh after being informed about the incident. As at press time the accused was yet to face the orderly room trial.
It would be recalled that a week ago, Mr. Edgal had announced the dismissal of a Police Constable, Mr. Mfon Esio from the police as a result of being involved in initiation rites of a secret cult, Junior Vikings Confraternity in May 2020.
