If Jesus tarries and barring any divine intervention, then the fierce rivalry between the Akwa Ibom state government and the local Press, will someday become a global concern. Whether we like it or we don't, a revolution is coming our way. A seed of discord was planted and as long as the soil remains fertile, the seed will germinate and bear fruits. May be we should take some moments to reminisce old times; was the relationship between the state government and the local Press this bad under former Governor Attah and in the early days of former Governor Akpabio? The answer is absolute No.

If I eventually live that life, I expect so many Global Concords to grace the newsstands in my state. You know why? Because I have a perfect plan, which is, not to have a certain Aniekan Umanah or anyone in his mould as my commissioner for Information.

Mr Idongesit Ituen, lawmaker-elect (Itu State Constituency) in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has been inducted into the Cpfr Hall of Shame.
Cpfr is the acronym for Committee for Political Freedom & Responsibility. It is an advocacy group for democracy and good governance in Nigeria.

Idongesit Ituen, member-elect for Itu State Constituency, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, wrote the following statement on Thursday, May 14, 2015, on the Facebook wall of the editor- in-chief of Weekly Insight newspaper, Mr. David Augustine: “David, what stake do you have in the Akwa Ibom project? You’re crying more than the bereaved, day by day you’re painting a picture of one who is not happy with the developmental strides of our Governor. Despite, the station owner’s claim, insiders said the station got a sudden instruction from officials of the Akwa Ibom state government urging it to block Senator Etok from speaking on the station

A senator representing Akwa Ibom North West in the Senate, Aloysius Etok, said Planet FM, a private radio station in Uyo, barred him from featuring on the station.
Mr. Etok told PREMIUM TIMES on Thursday that he was invited for a live interview on the station on January 1, but just as he made to enter the studio, the programme was aborted.
