APC accuses PDP of buying off PVCs from local communities in Akwa Ibom

All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom State has raised alarm that the Peoples Democratic Party is going about buying off Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) from local communities in the State, with the aim of using them to rig next month elections.
The party in a press statement signed by the State Chairman, Dr. Amadu Attai, said the victims of the election rigging plot who are mostly poor rural women in the rural communities the victims are often “deceived that government has directed that they should bring their PVCs for photocopying”.

“The disenfranchisement scheme is directed mostly at the strongholds of the APC. The targets of this electoral swindle are mostly impoverished women in the rural areas who are easily deceived and taken advantage of,” the party said in the statement, while advising the electorate not to sell or exchange their voter’s cards.

The party condemned the act and requested police in Akwa Ibom State to investigate the issue. It also advised members of the public to report immediately to the police or the APC, anyone asking them to sell or exchange their voter’s card for any favour.
