Retention of Akpabio’s men is for ‘stabilisation purposes’ – Gov Udom Emmanuel

Gov. Udom Emmanuel

By Nse Peter

Governor Udom Emmanuel has explained that his retention of commissioners who served in the immediate past administration of Chief Godswill Akpabio is for ‘stabilisation purposes,’ says Mr. Ata Ikiddeh who is an ardent supporter of the governor and had worked for his election.

Ikiddeh who posted his comment on Facebook said he spoke with Udom Emmanuel over the telephone, and that the governor explained to him why his cabinet is going to be filled up with former commissioners.
“He told me that when he was Secretary to the State Government under Governor Akpabio's administration that these were the people he worked with; these were the people that were involved in the machinery of the State Government, people he constantly interacted with in the actualisation of good governance at the time.
“He said the retention of former commissioners was for stabilisation purposes. He explained he had sought counsel from the Bible before making his decision.
“The Governor further said, before the State can truly takeoff there must be stability and that is the administrative process his new government is going through today. He made me understand that this was the right thing to do at this stage in his new administration.”
The governor’s explanation is apparently to counter the general belief that his predecessor, Akpabio must have forced him to work with the former commissioners.
