Free Odudu Ukpanah, let him rejoin his family to mourn their father, lawyer writes Akwa Ibom Attorney General, Uwemedimo Nwoko

Engr. Albert Ukpanah, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party from Ukanafun Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, was brutally gunned down in his home at Abak. The official police report said the murder was ‘politically motivated’. But in a rather sad and terrible twist, late Albert Ukpanah’s only son, Odudu was arrested, detained and arraigned for the assassination of his own father, even when he (Odudu) isn’t a politician! He has remained in detention without trial for several months now. Many people within and outside Akwa Ibom State feel Odudu is innocent, and have been calling for his release, the latest being this open letter to the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Uwemedimo Nwoko (pictured above). Albert Ukpanah, a chieftain of PDP, was brutally gunned down on 12 March, 2014 in his home in Abak, Akwa Ibom State, and his only son, Odudu Ukpanah arrested and charged to court for ‘assassinating’ his father, even when the police report says that Ukpanah’s assassination was politically motivated. Mr. Odudu Ukpanah, a UK-trained petroleum management expert, has so far spent seven months in prison custody. In this interview with NSE PETER, the editor of Think Akwa Ibom!, Uduak Ukpanah (pictured above), a Lagos-based lawyer and the elder sister to Odudu, says the family won’t give up  fighting for the unconditional release of Odudu.

Ofonime Ukpanah is a well-known make-up artist in Akwa Ibom State and the owner of Pushie Makeover. She is the daughter of a prominent politician, Chief Albert Ukpanah who was murdered in his home at Abak, March 13, 2014. The killers are yet to be arrested till date.
