NUJ suspends Akwa Ibom journalist for publishing fake stories


A newspaper publisher in Nigeria has been suspended from a local press union for publishing fake stories.
The suspended journalist, Ephraim Ikpe, was reported to the union for using The Waves Newspaper, a local newspaper he publishes in Akwa Ibom State, to run fake stories against Cletus Ukpong who is PREMIUM TIMES’ south south editor.

The Sun Vice Chairman, Dimgba Igwe, was this morning knocked down by a vehicle while jogging around his residence in the Okota area of Lagos State, the Punch newspaper reports.

Please help! Journalist diagnosed with failed kidneys

Two months ago, when Nurudeen Jewoola, aka Astro, a journalist with Newswatch Daily, began experiencing constant fatigue, he naturally blamed it on the hectic schedule of his job.

It was a near-death experience that brought to light the condition of his health and the state of his kidneys.
“I had no inkling that my kidneys were failing. The only symptom I had at the time was constant fatigue and I didn’t know it had anything to do with my kidneys. Then one day, I went to OPIC office at Gateway Building along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to make enquiries about a story I was working on. All of a sudden, I came down with an intense cold; I was shivering.

The Akwa Ibom State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has passed a vote of no confidence on the State Task Force on Petroleum Monitoring, an agency set up by the state government to regulate sales and availability of petroleum products in the state.
