Senator J.J. Akpanudoedehe have
reportedly asked Akwa Ibom people not to support any plan for the zoning of the
governorship position in the state in 2015, according to a news report
published in Global Concord
newspaper.
Global Concord, a local tabloid in Uyo,
Akwa Ibom State, quoted the 2011 ACN governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom State
as describing zoning as being ‘evil and satanic which is capable of killing
democracy and good governance’.
The paper reports that the former
senator made the assertion recently at IBB Golf Course, Abuja, while playing
golf with friends.
“He advised Akwa Ibom people to vote for
candidates based on their credibility and merit; adding that anybody from any
part of the state, including Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, is qualified to
contest the 2015 governorship election,” the paper reports.
“I do not support zoning arrangement.
Zoning is against the tenet of democracy and the Nigeria constitution. Let me
tell you, zoning is evil and satanic. It is against good governance and the
people. Anybody who is supporting zoning is not democratic in the real sense of
the word,” the paper quoted Udoedehe as saying.
“Akwa Ibom people need good governance,
they need a governor that will build industries, create jobs, provides security
and ensure food security. Zoning will breed mediocrity and vindictiveness. It
will bring disunity. In fact, there has never been zoning in Akwa Ibom State”.
This man that lead people to destroy properties, should not be allowed to wander about freely in Akwa ibom state please. Akwa Ibom is now beautiful and peaceful, no evil politicians should come and destroy the state because of elections.
