Akpabio didn’t bribe me with N5bn – Senator Aloysius Etok

Senator Aloysius Etok

The senator representing Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial district, Aloysius Etok, has denied reports that he conceded his seat to Governor Godswill Akpabio for N5bn.
Etok said this during a telephone interview with our correspondent on Tuesday.

“If I had collected N5bn to step down for Akpabio, then I am very lucky. But I am sure others must have collected a similar sum. But I spoke as a statesman and I acted like a statesman,” he said.
Etok stated that some people were defrauded during the Peoples Democratic Party primaries in the state which has made many members of the party to be dissatisfied and annoyed. He noted that the party would, however, resolve the issues.

He revealed that he was consulting with the PDP caucus members, especially those in the National Assembly to see how they could intervene so that the party would not fail in presenting a credible candidate for the governorship election.
He said, “It will be very dangerous for the party if Akwa Ibom PDP fails to win the governorship election. So, we at the National Assembly caucus are consulting among ourselves to see the dimension we can intervene.

“Some governorship aspirants in the state are not happy with the outcome of the primaries. I want to say that the matter is an internal matter of the PDP. What we call primaries pass through processes and if one of those processes is faulted, the entire process will be wrong.”
He, however, said the state may not have quality representation in the senate for the next four years.

He said that legislators needed at least three years to function effectively, adding that the job of a legislator was not the same as that of a member of the executive.
According to him, the fact that some legislators from the state are not going back to the senate is not very good for the legislature. He noted that Nigeria spent millions of naira training legislators every year on legislative matters.

  1. see etok o! forming saint. lol. singling himself out saying he is sure. sure of what? *story for the Gods*. By the way, why would Akpabio go bribing people with N5b each. that's so not Akpabio and is he saying Akpabio wouldn't make a difference in the senate? if Akpabio could do what he has done has a Governor, what makes the senate different?

  2. “If I had collected N5bn to step down for Akpabio, then I am very lucky. But I am sure others must have collected a similar sum. But I spoke as a statesman and I acted like a statesman,” What sort of comment is that? Godswill Akpabio picked that ticket simply because he is tested and trusted. Even though you stepped down for him, it made no difference, because he would have beaten you fair and square for that ticket. Abeg go rest.

  3. Senator Aloysius Etok must have been high of some real High grade when he granted this interview or the persons who interviewed him manipulated his answers. I find this story laughable. No be only 5billion na 10trillion. Say because na do or die. Biko AKPABIO is not that type, with his credentials alone, he can become president. Take chair siddon.

  5. Akpabio won that Ticket as a result of all the hard work and effort he has put into Akwa-Ibom. i believe there isnt a better candidate at the moment who would fill in that Senetorial spot better at the moment than Akpabio.

  6. Etok is a lying back stabber. he probably on the payroll of an APC gubernatorial aspirant. i wont be surprised tho, most of these politicians a always two sided, always favoring the side they stand to gain more from.

  7. How do you know Etok? If you want to know whether he is a serious person you should take a walk to is village or better still, find out what he was able to achieve within his tenure in the National Assembly. So after the assessment it will be easy to conclude whether it was necessary for him to go back to NASS. On the issue of collecting money from Akpabio, this is a near possiblity because he is a member of the Order of The Iscariots. You can call him Alloysius Iscariot if you wish.
