Wow! Soon, there’ll be a train-ride from Lagos to Calabar!




Soon, very soon, commuters in Nigeria will be enjoying train-ride from Lagos to Calabar, the capital of Cross River State, as President Goodluck Jonathan has reportedly approved the building of a rail line to link the two cities.
The Punch newspaper reports that the President announced, Tuesday, that the Federal Government has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the construction of the new railway line.

Jonathan, according to the report, made the announcement through Vice- President Namadi Sambo who represented the president during groundbreaking of the second cement line being constructed by the United Cement Company of Nigeria Limited in Mfamosing, Akamkpa Local Government Council of Cross River State.
The President is quoted to have said. “Indeed, I will like to state that very soon, the 550 megawatts station will be inaugurated. Also, on the railway line, I am also glad to inform you that the Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of a new railway line from Lagos to Calabar has been signed, and we hope that any moment from now, work will commence.”

Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, should be next in line, right?
