We have strategised for PDP to win 2015 elections, Says Akpabio

Governors Sule Lamido of Jigawa; Emmanuel Uduaghan; Sullivan Chime of Delta; Gabriel Suswam of Benue and Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe were yesterday absent at the meeting of governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Also not at the Tuesday meeting which started at 7.30 pm and ended at 11 pm, was Governor Ayodele Fayose. The meeting, initially slated for 6pm, did not start until 7.30pm when governor of Akwa-Ibom state, Godswill Akpabio arrived.

Meanwhile, the governors who rose from the meeting declared that with the strategies they have perfected, the party was sure of winning the february 14 Presidential election and other elections slated for next year.
Speaking with Journalists after the meeting at past 11 pm, Chairman of the PDP governors’ forum and Akwa Ibom State governor, Godswill Akpabio, who disclosed that the PDP still remained the largest party and a party to beat in any election, adding that the meeting was attended by 15 governors where they deliberated on the state of the nation particularly issues of security as well as the need to play politics in a more matured manner.

The original agenda of the meeting which lasted for five hours was to resolve some of the ill feelings generated by the primary election.
However, governors of Delta, Ebonyi and Enugu believed to be aggrieved because of the election were absent.

But Akpabio explained that the absence of the three governors had nothing to do with their being aggrieved, but for bad weather which disrupted their flight schedules.
The meeting which took place at the Akwa Ibom State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja was as a result of series of complaints that have continued to trail the State Houses of Assembly, National Assembly and Governorship primaries conducted by the PDP. The party has been engrossed in controversies after its primaries election and this has saw members of the party defecting to other political parties.

The governors, who attended the meeting were that of Bauchi, Abia, Kebbi, Ondo, Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Niger state.Others were, Taraba (Acting), Bayelsa, Plateau, kaduna (Deputy), kogi (Deputy), katsina (Deputy), Sokoto (Deputy) and former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi.
Meanwhile, the deputy governor of Sokoto state, Alhaji Muktar Shagari, one of the aggrieved gubernatorial aspirants however left the venue at 8:35pm for undisclosed reason.

It would be recalled that Sokoto state primary of the party has generated a lot of controversy following the declaration of Nigeria’s former Envoy to Morocco, Ambassador Abdullahi Wali as the winner of the primary election.
