Mr. Joseph Okon, Uyo-based journalist and a known supporter of Akwa Ibom SSG, Mr. Udom Emmanuel’s 2015 governorship ambition recently published on his Facebook page, an article which severely criticizes Governor Godswill Akpabio for allegedly withdrawing political support for the SSG who is his protégé.

The article with the title ‘ACA: A Divided House of Godswill Akpabio’ was posted on Mr. Joseph Okon’s Facebook page on 25 August, 2014.
The article frowns at the 2015 governorship aspiration of Governor Akpabio’s in-law, Mr. Mike Sebastine.

It has been confirmed that Mike Sebastine who is from Ikot Abasi Local Government Area and married to Uduak, a direct sister to Sir Emem Akpabio, is also personally seeking for the PDP governorship ticket, even though he was appointed the vice chairman of ACA (Akwa Ibom Consolidation Alliance), a political platform campaigning for Udom Emmanuel.
Mr. Mike Sebastine is running is 2015 governorship on the theme ‘The Grace Factor’.

“If Godswill Akpabio want to front his in-law for the 2015 governorship of the state which he may not like the result, he should have first consulted his predecessor, Obong Victor Attah who may have briefed him on how it was in 2006 when Obong Attah wanted his Son in-law, Dr Udoma Bob Ekarika to succeed him as the next governor of the state in 2007,” the article pointed out.

The article went on to say “If truly that Mike Sebastine wants to contest the governorship as he has said, he should resigned his position in ACA because he has digressed from the vision, aims, and objectives of the group since the group according to the founding fathers, was formed solely to deliver Udom Emmanuel as the next Governor of Akwa Ibom state.”

ACA: A DIVIDED HOUSE OF GODSWILL AKPABIO

Two months ago, precisely in June this year, the Akwa Ibom Consolidation Alliance popularly known as ACA was formally launched. The inauguration of members of the National Executive Committee of the new socio political group took place at Ibom Hall, Uyo.

Before and after the formal inauguration of the group, speakers who spoke painted the picture which made everybody who attended that event to believe that the group was solely formed with the main aim of making sure that the Secretary to State Government, Mr Udom Emmanuel emerged the next Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom state in 2015. It was widely reported in the media that Udom Emmanuel has kick start 2015 campaign even though the SSG only attended the event as a guest.

The state Deputy Governor, Lady Valerie Ebe, the Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Elder Sam Ikon, Prince Uwem Ita Etuk, and others made it very clear that ACA was formed to ensure that the SSG succeeds in his 2015 governorship aspiration to consolidate on the gains of the uncommon transformation of Governor Godswill Akpabio led administration.

These were the words of the Deputy Governor at the event, “Now that the Governor is about leaving office, he will hand over the key to that office to Mr Udom Emmanuel as his successor in 2015. Since it is God’s will, we all have accepted it, and we know that it will come to pass so that God’s will continue to be done in our state”. These are the words of Sam Ikon, “Allowing the governorship to Eket Senatorial District is the right thing to do that is why all of us have come here today and openly affirmed our commitment to move in the direction of the governor. On this note, I congratulate Eket Senatorial District believing that God of justice, equity, and fairness will be with us, and bring down all agents of disunity and disharmony in our state. To Eket Senatorial District we go, in Udom Emmanuel we believe come 2015, will be inaugurated as the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom state on May 29, 2015”.

Just two months along the line, the Deputy National Chairman of ACA who incidentally the champion of ACA in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, Mr Mike Sebastine, an in-law of Governor Akpabio has declared on his Facebook page that he will contest the 2015 governorship election in the state. He posted “the Grace Factor”, and mentioned the things he intends to do for Akwa Ibom if elected as the so called “Grace Factor” according to him is currently loading 90%. So who is fooling who? If Godswill Akpabio want to front his in-law for the 2015 governorship of the state which he may not like the result, he should have first consulted his predecessor, Obong Victor Attah who may have briefed him on how it was in 2006 when Obong Attah wanted his Son in-law, Dr Udoma Bob Ekarika to succeed him as the next governor of the state in 2007. That fruitless journey with wasted resources of the state went in vain. That’s a typical Akwa Ibom state for you.

Though nobody is against Mike Sebastine or anybody’s aspiration or ambition of becoming the governor of Akwa Ibom state, such ambition or aspiration should not be a hide and seek matter, using another man’s platform to test his political popularity for selfish gains.

The indication of interest by Mike Sebastine to contest the 2015 governorship election is a clear evidence that members of the National Executive of the group are not working to actualize the dreams and visions of the founding fathers of the body apart from their personal gains. ACA is no more a family or the coming together of people who share in the same vision, mission, and ideology; rather ACA can best be described as an assembly of aspiring men without vision or aims. It is true that people perish without vision; ACA is about perishing because they have removed away from the visions and dreams of its founding fathers. Just like a divided house cannot stand, ACA’s family has been divided against itself which it cannot stand, truly the aims and objectives of ACA has been defeated.
Like Barr Emmanuel Enoidem said, “ACA was a fusion of people with like-minds coming together”, but on the contrary, ACA has not in anywhere resemble the fusion of like-minds, instead the combination of detractors and confused men who are bend on causing confusing as the 2015 governorship election in Akwa Ibom draws near. It is a fusion of people with unlike-minds without vision, and work against each other in their bid to gain cheap popularities. Certainly, ACA as popularly called has no aim, objectives, and vision apart from wasting the resources of the state in the name of mobilization when they are not mobilizing anybody apart from their individual ambitions and aspirations.

If truly that Mike Sebastine wants to contest the governorship as he has said, he should resigned his position in ACA because he has digressed from the vision, aims, and objectives of the group since the group according to the founding fathers, was formed solely to deliver Udom Emmanuel as the next Governor of Akwa Ibom state. The leadership of ACA if there is any must take steps to show him the way out or disciplined him to serve as a deterrent to others if Akwa Ibom people must take ACA serious.

The persistence stay of Mike Sebastine in ACA is a distraction to the group, because his aspiration is running in conflict with the aims and objectives of the group. Two masters cannot be in one ship, certainly one must go if the ship should reach it destination safely. The leadership of ACA should not allow this Jonah to make the people of Akwa Ibom and ACA to perish; instead he should immediately be removed from the ship and vehicle of sustainable uncommon transformation they said ACA represents. It will amount to a monumental waste if ACA allows Mr Sebastine to continue with his selfish ambition. He has come out openly as an enemy to the group working against them, and should be seen and treated as such.

Mike Sebastine has constituted himself a nuisance and a threat to the values and existence of ACA by deviating from the visions and dreams of the founding fathers of the group. It was Robert Jacobs who once said, “Decision making is easy if there are no contradictions in the value system”. Now that there is a contradiction in the value system of ACA, it is very clear that ACA as it is cannot decide on anything concerning Akwa Ibom 2015 governorship, otherwise there will be serious commotions among them. He is a green snake under the green grass of 2015 governorship, playing hide and seek with the intention of sabotaging the good vision and dreams of Akwa Ibom people which he will not succeed.

ACA in all honesty is a bunch of unserious men coming together to chart an unserious course for their selfish interest. The truth of the matter is that the so called leaders of the group are either blind and could not see clearly what Akwa Ibom needs or confused about what they should stand for. Keeping the Akpabio’s in-law in the group is the most expensive mistake that ACA should make. He is too dangerous an enemy to keep within the group if truly ACA wants to lead a vanguard of Akwa Ibom liberation come 2015. He has the plan to sabotage the group by all means for his selfish and blind ambition which has always been his character. ACA! Be wise or you will perish as fools. A word, they say is enough for the wise.
