The immediate past chapter chairman
of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area and a
former political ally of Governor Godswill Akpabio, Chief Sunny Ibanga has
declared support for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives
Congress in Akwa Ibom State, Umana Okon Umana.
Sunny Ibanga, Thursday, welcomed
Mr. Umana and his campaign team to his home in Ikot Ekpene and declared that
the people of Ikot Ekpene will vote for the APC governorship candidate in the
forthcoming election. Umana made a stop at Chief Ibanga’s house in the evening
after his campaign tour to Ika and Etim Ekpo local government areas.
The endorsement of Umana by
Chief Ibanga who is an influential politician in Ikot Ekpene and one of the
pillars behind Akpabio’s rise in politics is a great boost for the APC in Akwa
Ibom State.
A crowd of PDP stakeholders in
Ikot Ekpene and Obot Akara local government areas were on hand to also receive the
Umana campaign team and similarly declared support for APC.
Ibanga, putting on a polo shirt with
Inibehe Okorie’s face embossed on it, said Chief Inibehe Okorie will represent
Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District as their next senator.
