Human Rights Activist Calls for Immediate Arrest of Gov Akpabio

Gov Akpabio ... "No hiding place"

Renowned human rights activist in Nigeria, Mr. Inibehe Effiong has called for the arrest of the Akwa Ibom State governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio immediately Muhammadu Buhari is sworn-in as the next president of Nigeria.

Buhari will, in less than 24 hours, officially take over as president of Nigeria from the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan. It is the first time since the country’s independence in 1960 that the opposition will assume power at the centre in Nigeria.
Governor Akpabio, despite the claims of good performance in infrastructural development in his state, is widely seen as one of the most corrupt and brutal political leaders in Nigeria’s history.
“Some of us will go all out by exploring all possible and available legal options to ensure that Akpabio accounts for the hundreds of billions of naira that accrued to Akwa Ibom State from May 29, 2007 to May 29, 2015,” Effiong wrote on his Facebook page, Thursday.
Effiong who is the Convener of the Coalition of Human Rights Defenders (COHRD) in Nigeria said, “there will be no hiding place” for Akpabio, and that “all the touts that were recruited over the years as official killer squad of the government must be rounded up and prosecuted.”
