Larry Esin angry with Akpabio, Udom for ‘downgrading’ him with committee appointment

Mr. Larry Esin

By Nse Peter

Mr. Larry Esin is allegedly angry with the immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Godswill Akpabio and his successor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for ‘downgrading’ his political status with recent appointment as member, Direct Foreign Investment Technical Committee, by the Akwa Ibom State government.

The committee is saddled with the responsibility of advising the government and promoting foreign direct investment in Akwa Ibom State in order to boost the state economy.
Esin contested for the 2015 Akwa Ibom PDP governorship primaries, but later threw his support behind Udom when the latter emerged as winner.
A close political associate of Esin who did not want his name mention in this report because he was not authorised by the former PDP governorship aspirant to speak on the issue, exclusively told Think Akwa Ibom! that “Esin deserves a better political deal from Akpabio and Udom after what he did to break the ranks of G22 and turned the political tide in favour of Udom.”
Esin, Think Akwa Ibom! learned, was first considered for appointment as secretary to the state government and later as commissioner in the two-month old administration of Udom, but the two positions eluded him before he was finally appointed into the committee.
Esin was conspicuously absent during the inauguration of The Direct Foreign Investment Technical Committee by Governor Udom Emmanuel in Government House, Uyo, two days ago. (Scroll down to the end of the story to view the committee members in a group photograph with the governor during the inauguration)
He is yet to officially reject his appointment into the committee.
“Why couldn’t he (Esin) head the committee instead of reducing him to a mere member? I can’t say if they did it to spite him, since I can’t read the mind of those who made the appointment. I think he is justified in his anger because this is like downgrading him politically,” Esin’s associate said.
