Outrage over Tribunal’s ruling on Akpabio’s election – Vanguard newspaper

There was outrage yesterday by supporters of the All Progressive Congress and people of Akwa-Ibom North-West following the National and State Assembly Election Petition tribunal ruling on the Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial election. Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Inebehe Okori had approached the tribunal challenging conduct of the April election and declaration of former governor of the state, Godswill Akpabio, as winner of the poll.

There was drama at Fridays proceedings on the third day of defence by embattled former Governor of Akwa Ibom State at the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja when a witness, Barr. Maurice Udoka ,through his counsel, Offiong Offiong SAN, attempted to tender as evidence, the original copy of his Permanent Voters Card (PVC) on the grounds that INEC could not give him a certified true copy as required by law.

Tribunal: Akpabio opens defence, calls two witnesses – Punch

The immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, on Wednesday opened his defence before the  Akwa-Ibom National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja, where his election as the Senator representing Akwa-Ibom North-West Senatorial District is being challenged by the All Progressives Congress and its candidate in the March 28 poll, Inibehe Okori.

Akpabio’s crash stalls APC’s petition at Abuja tribunal



A former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godwill Akpabio, could not open his defence at the Akwa Ibom State National and State Assemblies Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja on Wednesday as he was said to have been flown abroad for medical attention.

Election tribunal: Akpabio rattled as INEC testifies against him



Shock and surprise were visibly written on the faces of counsels to former Akwa Ibom State Governor , Chief Godswill Akpabio as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday appeared before the Hon Justice Goddy Anunihu-led Akwa Ibom State National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal at the Customary Court, Dutsen Alhaji, Abuja.

Akpabio suffers judicial defeat, tribunal dismisses ex-governor's preliminary objection against Okori



As early as 9am the courtroom was filed to capacity. Counsels, APC supporters, journalists, tribunal staffs all took their seats in preparation for the commencement of the day's proceedings. The main agenda was the tribunals ruling on the two preliminary objections filed by former Akwa Ibom state Governor, Godswill Akpabio of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) against his rival, Chief Inibehe Okori of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

It was a session of legal fireworks between Chief Inibehe Okori and Godswill Akpabio at the Akwa Ibom State National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting at the Customary Court Dutsen Alhaji on Thursday, June 18th,2015 at the resumed hearing of the petition as the tribunal witnessed torrents of legal argument for and against the motion filed by the former Akwa Ibom state Governor challenging the relocation of the tribunal from Uyo to Abuja.
