The suspect, Adaeze Mba, who was arrested for conniving with her husband to sell their neighbour’s four-year-old son for N400, 000, said it was poverty that pushed them to crime.
She confessed that she and her husband, Chibueze, had sold two other children for N700, 000.

She said, “In March 2013, my neighbour’s son, Stanley Ezeaka, was following me about in the compound at Jakande Estate and it was at that time that my husband received a phone call from his partner that she needed a child for sale. "The (prisoner release) measure, which is in line with presidential magnanimity to enhance peace efforts in the country, will result in freedom for suspects including all women under custody," a statement by defence spokesman Brigadier-General Chris Olukolade said.
According a news report by Reuters, security source said the gesture aimed to win over a population in the remote northeastern region wavering between fear of Boko Haram and resentment of the army's tough tactics.

2015 Akwa Ibom governorship race: Ex-Gov Attah snubs Nsima Ekere, Richard King

Nsima Ekere, former deputy governor, Akwa Ibom State

A news report published by Global Concord, a local tabloid in Akwa Ibom State, says the former deputy governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Nsima Ekere and an aide to President Goodluck Jonathan, Professor Richard King have been unsuccessful in their attempts to get the former governor of the state, Obong Victor Attah to endorse their aspirations to contest the 2015 governorship election in the state.

Global Concord says the former governor doubts if Richard King could be the ‘people’s governor’ if he wins the PDP primaries, because ‘his presence as presidential aide is hardly felt in Akwa Ibom’.
The paper, relying on an unnamed source, says Nsima Ekere wasn’t courageous enough to tell Attah about his governorship ambition when he visited him (Attah) because of the countenance of the former governor.

THINK AKWA IBOM! could not however independently verify the Global Concord story. Nsima Ekere and Richard King have not yet issued a response to the newspaper report.

She walked away from the marriage – from the husband and their two children.
What quick steps could the man take? Please only serious advice is needed. Thank you.

An aircraft manifest contains the names of all persons aboard the plane, among other things.
The Coordinating Information and Communications Manager for aviation parastatals, Mr. Yakubu Dati, told reporters in Lagos on Sunday that the order for the declaration of passenger manifest was necessary to check the abuse of the use of private and chartered jets.

ANOTHER SMEAR CAMPAIGN AGAINST AKWA IBOM SSG

Mr. Umana Okon Umana, the Akwa Ibom SSG

The attention of Mr. Umana Okon Umana, Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government (SSG), has just been drawn to a false publication on the internet which claimed that the SSG desperately sought endorsement of his party to run for governor at the last stakeholders meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (Uyo Senatorial District) held on Sunday 28 April 2013 in Uyo, and that the SGG sponsored a story in a local newspaper ahead of the end of the meeting to the effect that he has been adopted as the sole candidate for the 2015 governorship election in the state. We reject as complete falsehood all the insinuations and claims of the said publication to the effect that the SSG wanted the meeting to adopt him as the sole candidate of the district for the 2015 election. What happened at the meeting, already clearly stated in a communiqué, will be summarized below. But first, let us look at the author of this false publication so that the public can then determine who to believe.

Front Page Comment: Weekly Insight April 29th 2013 Edition: Our Story

We have just noticed a piece of mischief dressed as an article posted in Ibom Forum, written by one Michael Ukanga Ekpo concerning the Monday April 29th Edition of Weekly Insight Newspaper.

It is not our style to join issues with individuals on contents of our paper. We believe that every reader has a right to form whatever judgment he chooses to on issues that we carry as news or commentary. We are however appalled by the absurdities contained in Mr. Ekpo's write up. He has abused every known rule of engagement to carry such malicious and weird allegations against the paper and the Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government as far as the story on the Uyo Senatorial District PDP Stakeholders meeting is concerned.
