Foremost Ekid leader, Mbong Mbong, is dead!


It’s a sad moment for Ekid people and the entire Akwa Ibom State! Obongiwad Mbong Mbong is dead. The sad news was posted on Facebook on Wednesday by Victor Effik, a journalist from Akwa Ibom. Mbong was a foremost youth leader in Eket and a former State Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom. As its founding president, late Chief Mbong helped built Afigh Iwaad Ekid, the main youth organization in Ekid nation, and also shaped oil politics in Ekid for the benefit of his people. Eminue, a Nigerian-American who served in U.S Army shot dead in Atlanta

Sergeant Ating Eminue, 24, of Lawrenceville, GA, died Sunday morning outside an Atlanta homeless shelter, shot by an unknown attacker. His family says someone confronted him while he tried to give away shoes to the homeless and shot him multiple times.

A family source has confirmed to Think Akwa Ibom! that the former governor of the then Cross River State, Chief Donald Dick Etiebet is dead. He died in the evening of Wednesday after a protracted illness. He was 81 years.

Information still remains sketchy about the car crash that reportedly killed Dr. Ime Umanah, the Akwa Ibom State APC chieftain and philanthropist. The much that is known is that the crash occurred, Monday, May 25, 2015, somewhere around Owerri in Imo State, and that Umanah was inside his car, from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, where he went to defend himself in court in the criminal charge of ‘threat to life’ brought against him by the then governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Godswill Akpabio.

U.S Vice President Joe Biden's son Beau dies of brain cancer



Beau Biden (pictured above), who followed his father, Vice President Joe Biden, into politics and was twice elected attorney general of Delaware, died Saturday of brain cancer less than two years after he was diagnosed, the Associated Press has reported. Beau Biden was 46.

Ken Etim who is the older brother to the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Works, Mr. Don Etim, died this morning in a private hospital in Uyo, according a family source who didn’t want his name mentioned in the story since he hasn’t been authorised to speak on the issue.
