Ikemesit Iyire |

Information still remains sketchy about the car crash that
reportedly killed Dr. Ime Umanah, the Akwa Ibom State APC chieftain and philanthropist.
The much that is known is that the crash occurred, Monday, May 25, 2015, somewhere
around Owerri in Imo State, and that Umanah was inside his car, from Uyo, Akwa
Ibom State, where he went to defend himself in court in the criminal charge of ‘threat
to life’ brought against him by the then governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief
Godswill Akpabio.
Apart from Umanah’s personal driver who some people say came
out alive from the accident, it is believed that his personal assistant, Mr.
Ikemesit Iyire was also a part of ill-fated trip. But unfortunately, there’s no
information about the whereabouts of Iyire, if he came out alive or not from
the accident.
Think Akwa Ibom!
has contacted some persons believed to be closed to Iyire who also seemed to be
at a lost about what may have happened to him. “His (Iyire’s) line has remained
switched off since the day the accident happened. I have been calling the number
every day to see if it is open, so that I can at least know what has happened
to him,” one of the persons contacted told Think
Akwa Ibom!
A check at Iyire’s Facebook page, however, led us to some frightening
revelations. Days before the accident, Iyire started doing, on Facebook, daily
countdown to the May 29 handover date. From his tone, he was excited that ‘change’
was going to be ushered in, alas.
On Monday, May 25, around 6:44am, he posted on his Facebook
page, “Countdown to #Change: 4days to go, Jonathan
brodas,TANites,GEJites,Goodluck Support Group, ors una buy fuel cheaper than
me?make una ask God for forgiveness for foolishly conspiring with a doofus to
keep #Nigerians in chains for another 4yrs.I can’t wait to stop seeing this
man's face. May 29th move faster abegi.#AkwaIbom:I hearsay una de commission
56billion naira bridge built over land, meanwhile una citizens no get
alternative to civil service,#Kontinu! Me na God I dey thank for
#everything.”
That’s was Iyire’s last post on Facebook. And that was the
day the accident that killed Ime Umanah happened.
Where’s Ikemesit Iyire? Is he dead or alive?
