2015: Akpabio using hunger as political weapon, pro-Akpabio newspaper confirms

Gov. Akpabio

By Nse Peter

Some lawmakers in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly who have refused to support a certain governorship aspirant from Eket Senatorial District have been starved of funds by the executive arm of government led by Governor Godswill Akpabio in the state, the Sensor newspaper has reported.

In a recent news report titled, ‘Cash Crunch Hits AK Lawmaker’ the paper reports that “political alignment and re-alignment either in favour or against the zoning of the governorship seat in 2015” is adversely affecting some members of the State House of Assembly, and went ahead to quote an unnamed member of the House as saying that funds were being blocked from reaching members who are not in support of a particular aspirant from Eket Senatorial District.

The ‘particular aspirant from Eket Senatorial District’ is apparently the current Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, Mr. Udom Emmanuel who has been hand-picked by Governor Akpabio against the popular opinion of the Akwa Ibom people.
