A’Ibom House of Assembly dissolves LG councils

local government councils in the state even as it directed the council chairmen
to handover all government properties to their councils’ Heads of Service by

I was in the house of Assembly when the sixth Assembly converged and I witnessed the emergence of Hon Aniekan Uko as the Speaker of the Sixth Assembly. There was no counter vote by the members except for the position of Deputy Speaker where the contest was between Hon Felicia Bassey of Okobo and Hon Effiong Asuquo of Oron.

Kufre Etuk, member representing Uruan State Constituency in
the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, has reportedly picked the All
Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to represent the party in the election for
the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. Etuk defected from his former party,
PDP, after Governor Godswill Akpabio and his powerful family conspired to deny
him the PDP ticket the 2015 election.

Some lawmakers in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly who
have refused to support a certain governorship aspirant from Eket Senatorial
District have been starved of funds by the executive arm of government led by
Governor Godswill Akpabio in the state, the Sensor
newspaper has reported.
