A press release from Mr. Ekerete Udoh who has just been appointed senior special assistant on media to Governor Udom Emmanuel, said the appointment takes immediate effect.
Umoren, a graduate of University of Benin and a knight of John Wesley, was chief of staff to the immediate past governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio. He had retired as a permanent secretary, Government House, Uyo, before Akpabio appointed him as chief of staff. He is from Obot Akara Local Government Area.

Information still remains sketchy about the car crash that
reportedly killed Dr. Ime Umanah, the Akwa Ibom State APC chieftain and philanthropist.
The much that is known is that the crash occurred, Monday, May 25, 2015, somewhere
around Owerri in Imo State, and that Umanah was inside his car, from Uyo, Akwa
Ibom State, where he went to defend himself in court in the criminal charge of ‘threat
to life’ brought against him by the then governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief
Godswill Akpabio.

The crisis rocking the Nigeria Governors Forum was on Monday night
resolved following the adoption of Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, as
the Chairman of the forum.
Amaechi had won the last NGF election with 19 votes to defeat his
main challenger, Plateau State governor, Jonah Jang, who had 16 votes.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Akwa Ibom State, Mr.
Austin Okojie, has alleged threats to his life by a security operative within
the commission.
Okojie, who raised the alarm on Thursday during an emergency
meeting with the staff of the commission in Uyo, said the threats were usually
made through anonymous phone calls and text messages at night.

Buhari Friends Organisation Network in Akwa Ibom State has begun fasting and prayer for a successful transition to the next administration on May 29.
Speaking in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, on Wednesday, the National Coordinator of the group, Saint Okon, stated that the fasting and prayers became necessary to seek the face of God as the country was about to move into another phase of the country’s administration.

Mr. Nseobong Okon-Ekong who works in Lagos with Thisday
newspaper posted this, Sunday, on his Facebook page: “Just got a call from Ekerete Udoh, one of the media aides to Akwa Ibom
State governor-elect Udom Emmanuel threatening to deal with me (for an article
published in THISDAY) yesterday May 9. He said I should be ready for a fight.
He called with this number- 08171012583.”
When Think Akwa Ibom! contacted Nseobong Okon-Ekong, he said
the article in question was published “under a column written by a colleague of
mine. It did not carry my name neither was Ekerete mentioned in the article. He
claims that every description there points to him. And that since I am an Akwa

The Civil Society Network Against Corruption has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, demanding the arrest and investigation of the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State, Gesila Khan, and that of Akwa Ibom State, Austin Okoji.

They
mentioned, particularly, Science Park Road, which links Calabar-Itu Road,
saying erosion had made the road impassable. According to them, erosion has
also damaged a section of Calabar-Itu Road.
